How orphan sponsorship works

Orphan sponsorship is ongoing support for a child who has lost the care of a parent. It helps their family or guardian meet important needs including education, nutrition and healthcare.
When you sponsor through Muslims In Need, the programme pairs you with a child and provides regular progress updates.
Monthly sponsorship is £30 in Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Tanzania, or £40 in Gaza. You can also give the equivalent for a full year.
We encourage a commitment of at least 12 months where possible, so children can benefit from dependable support.

How much is orphan sponsorship?
Sponsorship is £30 per month or £360 per year for Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Tanzania. In Gaza, it is £40 per month or £480 per year.
How does orphan sponsorship work?
You choose a country and start a monthly or annual sponsorship. The programme pairs you with a child, helping support their education, food, healthcare and ongoing wellbeing.
Can I choose which country my sponsored child lives in?
Yes. You can choose Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Tanzania before continuing to checkout.
Will I receive updates on my sponsored child?
Yes. The programme provides regular updates including photos and progress information about the child you support.
Can I pay for a whole year?
Yes. You can choose the annual option. The price is equivalent to twelve monthly payments, without an additional discount.
What happens if I need to cancel?
We will seek another sponsor for the child. Where possible, we encourage a commitment of at least 12 months for continuity.
Can I use Zakat for orphan sponsorship?
Zakat can be used where the child or their guardian meets the relevant eligibility criteria. Select Zakat as your donation intention when appropriate.
Can I sponsor on behalf of someone else?
Yes. Select the gift option and enter their name. This option is not available when the donation intention is Zakat.
