About India

Marginalised Muslim communities across India face significant poverty, discrimination, and limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. In states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Assam, many Muslim families live in urban slums or remote rural areas without basic sanitation, clean water, or reliable electricity. According to government data, Muslims remain among the most economically disadvantaged communities, with lower literacy rates and higher poverty levels than the national average. During Ramadan, many families struggle to provide even basic iftar meals, let alone maintain nutritional intake for growing children. Access to Islamic education varies widely, with many communities lacking properly equipped madrasahs or copies of the Quran. Our established Indian partner organisations identify and verify beneficiaries in their communities, delivering food packs, iftar meals, and educational materials to families in greatest need across several states.

A Ramadan food pack provides a complete month's supply of essential staples for an entire family. Each pack is carefully assembled to include culturally appropriate foods that sustain a family of 5-7 people throughout the blessed month.

What's Inside a Food Pack

  • Rice (10kg) — the staple carbohydrate
  • Flour (10kg) — for bread and chapatis
  • Cooking oil (5 litres)
  • Lentils and beans (5kg)
  • Sugar (2kg) and tea
  • Dates — for breaking the fast
  • Salt, spices, and tomato paste
