About Sudan

Sudan has been engulfed in a devastating armed conflict since April 2023, pitting the Sudanese Armed Forces against the Rapid Support Forces in a war that has displaced over 10 million people — the largest displacement crisis in the world. More than 25 million people, over half the population, require humanitarian assistance. Fighting has been concentrated in Khartoum, Darfur, and Kordofan states, destroying hospitals, markets, water infrastructure, and entire residential neighbourhoods. Al-Fashir in North Darfur has experienced sustained shelling and blockade, with civilians trapped between warring factions and unable to access food, water, or medical care. Famine conditions have been declared in parts of North Darfur, with the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warning that without intervention, famine will spread to additional areas. Malnutrition among children under five has reached emergency levels, with health facilities non-functional in many conflict-affected areas. Sexual violence has been used as a weapon of war, particularly in Darfur. Schools have been destroyed or converted into shelters, leaving millions of children without education. The banking system has collapsed in many areas, making cash transfers impossible and forcing communities to rely entirely on humanitarian assistance. Our Sudanese partner organisations operate in accessible areas including Port Sudan, eastern Sudan, and parts of the White Nile region, prioritising displaced families with food distributions, clean water, medical supplies, and emergency shelter.

Delivery Method: We operate through trusted Sudanese partner organizations in accessible areas, prioritizing displaced populations.

Why This Matters

A Ramadan food pack provides a complete month's supply of essential staples for an entire family. Each pack is carefully assembled to include culturally appropriate foods that sustain a family of 5-7 people throughout the blessed month.

What's Inside a Food Pack

  • Rice (10kg) — the staple carbohydrate
  • Flour (10kg) — for bread and chapatis
  • Cooking oil (5 litres)
  • Lentils and beans (5kg)
  • Sugar (2kg) and tea
  • Dates — for breaking the fast
  • Salt, spices, and tomato paste

Contents are adjusted by region to match local dietary needs. Packs in South Asia include different items than those in East Africa. Every pack is delivered Hand2Hand with photographic proof.

The Ripple Effect

When a family receives a food pack, the mother no longer needs to choose between feeding her children and paying for medicine. Children can focus on their studies rather than going hungry. The entire household can observe Ramadan with dignity.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward." (Tirmidhi)

We fled Khartoum with nothing. Your food pack was the first proper meal my children had in weeks.
