About Bangladesh
Bangladesh hosts nearly one million Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar — one of the largest refugee settlements in the world — alongside its own vulnerable populations affected by seasonal flooding, cyclones, and persistent poverty. The Rohingya, fleeing persecution in Myanmar, live in overcrowded camps with limited access to healthcare, education, and clean water. Monsoon rains regularly trigger landslides and flooding within the camps, destroying shelters and contaminating water supplies. Beyond the refugee crisis, rural Bangladeshi communities face chronic poverty, with many families surviving on less than £1 per day. Seasonal flooding affects millions annually, destroying crops, homes, and livelihoods. The garment industry workforce, predominantly women, faces exploitation and inadequate wages. Our partner organisations operate across Cox's Bazar refugee camps and rural Bangladeshi communities, delivering food packs, building water wells and homes, sponsoring orphans, and distributing Qurans to madrasahs in underserved areas.
Delivery Method: Distribution through established partner organizations in Cox's Bazar refugee camps and rural Bangladeshi communities.
Why This Matters
Clean water is a basic human right, yet 2 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water. In rural communities across Pakistan, Bangladesh, Tanzania, and other African nations, families — especially women and children — walk hours daily to collect water from unsafe sources.
Building a water well is one of the most powerful forms of Sadaqah Jariyah. A single well serves an entire community for 15-20 years, providing clean water for drinking, cooking, washing, and agriculture.
Well Options
- £300 — Shallow hand-pump well (serves 100+ people)
- £1,500 — Deep borehole well (serves 500+ people)
- £3,000 — Solar-powered well system (serves 1,000+ people)
Every well includes a dedication plaque — you can name it after a loved one, living or deceased.
As a Rohingya refugee, I have lost everything. Your charity reminds me that the Ummah has not forgotten us.
