When is the Day of Arafah 2026?
The Day of Arafah is the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, expected on Monday 25 May 2026. It is the day before Eid al-Adha and one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar.
The Virtue of Fasting on Arafah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.” (Muslim)
This incredible reward is for non-pilgrims only. Those performing Hajj do not fast on the Day of Arafah as it may weaken them for the rites of Hajj.
What Makes Arafah So Special?
- Completion of the religion: It was on the Day of Arafah that the verse was revealed: “Today I have perfected your religion for you.” (Quran 5:3)
- Freedom from the Fire: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah.” (Muslim)
- Best dua: “The best dua is the dua on the Day of Arafah.” (Tirmidhi)
