A Sadaqah Sacrifice (Dhabihah) is a voluntary offering that can be made at any time of the year. Unlike Qurbani (which is specific to the days of Eid al-Adha), a Sadaqah Sacrifice can be given for many reasons:
- As an act of gratitude for a blessing (recovery from illness, birth of a child, marriage)
- As a means of seeking protection from calamity
- To fulfil a vow (nadhr)
- As general Sadaqah for the poor
The meat is distributed to the poor and needy in the same manner as Qurbani.
